Soft-spoken comedian Bill Hader meets his not-so-soft-spoken great-grandfather and discovers the significant risk he took during one of WWI’s most dangerous battles on PBS’s Finding Your Roots.
Comedian Bill Hader is soft-spoken, self-effacing, and gentle above-all-else, but we discovered that one of his ancestors had a very different temperament. The story begins on April 6, 1917, when the United States entered World War One against Germany.
Bill’s great-grandfather, Arthur Hader, was the child of German immigrants, but he immediately joined the American Army.
