Proud mom to football superstars Jason and Travis Kelce, Donna “Mama” Kelce believes family is everything – especially around the holidays. While families are together this holiday season, Donna is encouraging everyone to not only share these family stories, but take the next step and preserve them for generations to come.
As a long-time Ancestry® customer, Donna is embarking on a new, heartfelt journey to discover even more about her family history and save their cherished stories.
Being an Athlete Runs in the Family!
It turns out the apple doesn’t fall far from the Kelce family tree! Donna’s DNA results revealed two interesting traits – that she is more likely to be a sprinter and more likely to be a risk-taker.
Donna has been a sports enthusiast from a young age, taking a particular interest in track and field, where she clinched multiple medals in the Junior Olympics. Discovering she possesses the genetic trait associated with her athletic prowess was a delightful surprise, given her past achievements. Donna says, “I could beat most boys in the 8th grade, so I can see that!”
Donna even rediscovered old memories from her childhood that haven’t been resurfaced in decades.
Unearthing School Memories
Donna recently uncovered a few gems—her 11th-grade yearbook portrait from 1969 and majorette photo from 1970 at Orange High School, on Ancestry! These photos brought back waves of nostalgia. In high school, Donna was a powerhouse, participating in Bowling, Glee Club, Pep Club, Band, Theatre and homecoming court.

Preserving Kelce Family Memories
Donna is utilizing the new ‘Memories’ feature on Ancestry to upload and edit photographs, share stories, and add audio notes.
Below are some of her favorites she is adding – when Travis and Jason appeared on SNL in 2023 and a childhood photo of the boys around the Christmas tree in their Cleveland Heights home around 1995.
